After a week of heavy rain Shiprock did not seem like a good idea for a dive but as conditions on the coast were very rough this was the only place I was going to be able to dive and I had my consecutive weekend record to consider.

I got in at the pool where the visibility looked fair. I descended the wall with some other divers and the visibility dropped to almost nothing. The other divers aborted but I decided to push on. Once I moved on a bit the visibility improved slightly to 2-3 metres. It stayed like this for the rest of the dive.

I followed the wall along to shallows and then came back along the base of the wall. There were a huge number of mourning cuttlefish along the way and some of them were quite large. I also saw one octopus and a few hermit crabs... oh.. and one nudibranch.

I went along the base of the wall past the exit, ascended the wall and then did my safety stop in the shallows while slowly moving back to the pool where I got out.
