The seas up and down the coast had been pretty rough for the last few days and Shiprock was one of the few places where a half decent dive would be possible (although I did hear that some people successully dived The Monument).

I pretty much followed Eddie for the whole dive. We jumped in at the pool and headed out and down the wall. The visibility was only around 3 metres. We then headed north for a while. I spotted a Plocamorpherus imperialis nudibranch and lost Eddie while I was photographing it. Fortunately, I caught up with him before he headed out onto the sand.

We swam across the sand for a bit and I spotted a painted stinkfish. I lost Eddie again but headed back to the wall and found him. I then stuck with him for the rest of the dive. We only made it as far as the piepapplefish but Eddie pointed out some cool stuff, including a flatworm, a banded coral shrimp and a orange reef-goby.

Despite the poor visibility it was a fun dive and we went for nearly 90 minutes.
