It was too rough to dive at any open sites and I enjoy diving at Clifton Gardens so I came nice and early before the crowds. I got in at the beach next to the jetty and swam out under the jetty. The visibility was surprisingly good, starting at around 3 metres and was as much as 5 metres after the jetty passes the nets.
I swam past the end of the nets and headed down to the pylon where I'd seen the freckled anglerfish on the last dive. I swam around the pylon multiple times as well as the adjacent pylons but could not find either angler. I headed further out under the jetty, reached the end and gradually made my way back. I checked the same pylon again on the way back but still no anglers.
I had a good look under the next most shallow pylon hoping to find one of the ghostpipefish but instead found one of the freckled anglers. I believe it is the same as the first one I saw a few weeks ago.
I then swam along the shore between the old and new nets. I swam to the end then came out from the nets and swam along the outside. When I got back to the angler I pointed it out to a couple of divers. They were pleased.
I swam around a little longer before making it back along the jetty and exiting at the beach. |
