We jumped in at The Steps, descended, and turned left towards The Monument. Visibility was around 5 metres, there was not much surge and we had a gentle current behind us. There was an obvious thermocline with the temperature fluctuating between 19 and 21°C.
We swam just above the sand line over the kelp which allowed me to spot two weedy seadragons as well as check out for organisms on top of the reef. I was able to locate the grey red-fingered angler that Roney spotted yesterday. Turns out it is the same angler I first spotted on the twilight dive on 14 January and then found again on 5 February. It has moved around quite a bit.
Not far from the angler, Roney spotted a ghostpipefish. It looks like a robust ghostpipefish but it has fluffy appendages on its snout, so perhaps it is a rough-snout. Either way, it was a beautiful fish and a cool find.
We continued on to Block Rock. I found the black angler that had been missing the last few days and Roney found the yellow angler that Dama found |
