For our second dive we dived at The Monument. I was hoping we'd see some more anglerfishes and I also wanted to check on "Sunshine", the female pot-bellied seahorse.

We got in at the little bay to the south-east of the point and waded out until it was deep enough to don our fins. We swam out before descending and swimming to the sponge gardens. Visibility was probably around 5 metres and water temperature around 16°C.

We headed east to the rock behind the wall where the orange painted angler had been. I hadn't seen it last time but was hoping it was just hiding then. I couldn't find it. I looked around on the rocks for pygmy pipehorses but couldn't find any.

We swam down to Carijoa Rock (which by the way has very little Carijoa left) and I was hoping the grey red-fingered angler would still be there. It wasn't - well not that I could see and I looked closely over the rock. I couldn't find any pygmies, either.

We headed up to Slope Rock and I looked for Dama's red pygmy on the nearby rock. I found him but not his partner. I pointed him out to Trevor while I looked for more pygmies. I found one of the males on a nearby rock but could not find the other one.

We swam on past Split Rock and I found the white female pygmy on the rock a little farther on. I pointed it out to Trevor and then looked around the area for the white anglerfish.

We continued along the reef to Four Pygmies Rock and I was looking for pygmies and anglerfishes but I found none.

We followed the wall along and then went diagonally over the corner and down near the sand as we headed west. Eventually we came to the rock where "Sunshine" has been and I spotted her near the top of the rock. While Trevor was photographing her I swam around looking for male seahorses but didn't find any.

We headed for the shallow wall and ascended to 5 metres and started our safety stops. We headed west along the top of the wall and then eventually turned south over the kelp. We kept swimming south until we were in the shallows in front of the flagpoles. We got out there.
