Club dive with St George Underwater Centre.

Eleven of us made a start from the car park. On the way to the entry point we lost our first one who wasn't feeling well and wisely decided not to dive. It was slightly rough at the entry point and due to the low tide we had to wade out without our fins on. In this situation it is important to get your fins on quickly (even if they are loose) so you can swim past the waves. A couple of people were a little slow to don their fins and were pushed towards the rocks by the waves. One lost their mask and snorkel so that was then end of the dive for them and their buddy, the other finally made it back with his fins on.

By the time, everyone was ready to descend, the we'd drifted on the surface pretty much all the way to The Steps.

We descended into the gloom and the visibility was only around 1 metre and was getting worse on the bottom. We aborted the dive and made the long swim back to the enty/exit point. Getting out was just about as difficult as getting in. So basically, it was a lot of effort for little gain - but good experience for the new divers.
