Club dive with St George Underwater Centre.

According to Bureau of Meteorology, the seas were only going to be around half a metre with light south-easterly winds, perfect for Camp Cove. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit more swell and it was very surgy. Visibility was pretty poor and there was a lot of sand in the water.

We headed out form the beach and I lost Wes and Paul almost immediately. I kept on regardless but the surge and poor viz did not make it good. I saw a few calamari squid and a frog fish but not much else. After about 30 minutes I was ready to bail and headed back to the beach. The visibility improved somewhat closer to the beach but I had lost interest by then. After removing my fins and mask and starting to exit the water, I noticed Wes and Paul's lights out in the water and thought I'd give it another go and went to find them. I didn't find them but the second half of the dive was much better, finding a number of cuttlefish, an octopus and even a blue-lined octopus. Despite the poor conditions it was still a pretty good dive.
