We had our fingers crossed that the conditions had improved from the previous day when the visibility never got over 3 metres. It looked OK from the top of the stairs and was still good once we hit the water. As we descended we could see it was much better. There was still a lot of particulate matter in the water and even more on the bottom just waiting to get stirred up if we weren't careful. By the time we got to the sand line, the visibility was as much as 8 metres but only 5 metres in places. We hit the sand line in the usual spot and headed towards The Steps. Behind Seahorse Rock we found "Rosie", "Bob" and "Kel". There were each pretty much in the same locations on their rock as they had been the previous week. We then headed towards "Southern Cross" finding a reaper cuttlefish along the way. We found "Southern Cross", "Richie" and "Pierre" on their usual rock. "Richie" had a clingfish on him. I didn't notice at the time but did once I looked at the photographs. I guess seahorses have to be cleaned, too. We kept going towards The Steps along the sand line. The visibility ahead looked worse but as we got there it was not as bad as it looked. It was better than it had been on both dives on the previous day. The Miamira magnifica nudibranch was still in the same approximate location it had been the previous day. We were quite pleased that we'd made it that far even after stopping at the seahorses. From here we headed to the rocks for our safety stop and exited at The Steps. The exit was quite easy, the walk up the stairs not so. |
