The plan for this dive was to do the eastern side of Bare Island. I have only done that on a few times as I usually dive west or south of the island. Peter was going to lead the dive. I also wanted to see anglers at Bare Island as I'd never seen them there before. While we were getting reading we started chatting with, Nick Missenden, a dive instructor from Sydney Dive Academy. He was telling us where to find anglers and pygmy pipehorses on the eastern side. While his directions were excellent, they were difficult for me to take in as I don't know that part of Bare Island at all. Nevertheless, I did take some of it onboard.

We entered the water on eastern side of the island, near the pole. Peter initially took us south and we found some really nice sponge gardens. He then realised we were in the wrong spot and took us north past the entry point. We came on a wall on our left with a number of deep crevices. As we approached a swim-through it started to look familiar based on Nick's description. He had mentioned an angler in a hole and so I looked for the hole and sure enough found a light coloured angler in a hole.

Once the angler was found, I started looking for the area where he said there were pygmy pipehorses. Unfortunately, we were heading in the opposite direction from his directions, although I did end up looking in areas where pygmy pipehorses have been seen. We circled back along the wall a few times and then continued north towards the bridge.

We swam under the bridge and exited at the ramp on the north of the island, to the west of the bridge.
