The water around Bare Island was a little calmer than it had been yesterday and I was able to jump in on the west side just south of the north west corner. I descended at swam at around 240°. I reached the end of the wall right near the seahorses. The visibility here was pretty good: maybe 5 or even 8 metres but it was only around 17°C. I found the two black seahorses, "Della" and "Tomas", together on sea tulips but I could not find the yellow one, "Andrey" anywhere in the area. Others have not seen him either. I headed along the tiers for a while and then turned north to hit the shallow wall. On the way up the visibility dropped to less than 4 metres but the water jumped up to 24°. It was like being in a bath. I followed the shallow wall west and then north to the cave on the corner and then went east to see if I could find the weedy seadragon. I found it next to the big rock with the log (I thought this was Seahorse Rock but have been told that it isn't). I headed west along the reef to find the anglers and found them on the same rock they were on yesterday. I headed west again to see if I could find the grey red-fingered angler from yesterday but I didn't find it. I turned and headed east and found Peter, Vicki, George, Paula, Gary and Ricky at the anglers. I left them and went back to the weedy seadragon to get a head shot from its left side. I then swam to the rock that had the pygmy pipehorses and looked for around 10 minutes but didn't find any. I stopped at a couple more rocks as I went towards the exit and found a tiny pygmy pipehorse on one of the smaller rocks. I think it is a female but it may just be a juvenile. I then headed to the exit and started my safety stop just before the motor. I exited to the west of the ramp. |
