Details

Despite the largish south-easterly swell it was quite calm on the northern side of the island to the west of the bridge. We got in on the northern shore and descended. The visibility was around 5 metres which was excellent for low tide.

We followed the boulders to the west, past the outboard motor, up over the shelf to the south-west and across the sand to the top of the slope. We were looking for pygmy pipehorses along the way. Kim pointed out two at the top of the slope on rocks with hardly any growth. They were sitting there like sentries.

We continued down the slope and Kim found a tiny juvenile on the rocks on the left. We carefully inspected the first lot of rocks with the sponges and sea tulips and Kim found 2 more pygmies.

We slowly made our way to almost the corner of the wall looking for pygmies all the way but we did not find any. We turned and came back and I took some more photographs of the 2 pygmies on the rock with the sponges and sea tulips. While I was there I discovered a third one near the other two.

Kim was getting bored so she headed off while I took some more photographs and then I slowly made my way back to the exit snapping some more photos of the sentries on the way back.

I exited at the entry point.
