I went to Kurnell first hoping to dive at The Steps but the entry/exit looked too rough so I drove to Shiprock as I had plenty of time before high tide. I was surprised to not find anyone else at Shiprock getting ready to dive although I did see two divers heading down from the lower carpark.

I got in at the pool, swam out and descended the wall. I initially headed north as I was in early. The visibility was at least 10 metres and in some places up to 15 metres. It was amazing to be able to see much of the underwater landscape in one go.

After around 15 minutes I turned, headed south then west and followed the reef along. I didn't see much of interest so I turned and headed back. As I approached the pineapplefish cave I saw George, Paula and Fabio coming back the other way so I hung around with them for 30 minutes or so.

We swam all the way along the reef to the shallows and then turned and came back. I stayed with them until we were out from the pool then I did my safety stop and exited at the pool.
