The surface water around Bare Island was a little brown again after the rain over the weekend but at least the seas were a lot calmer.

We got in on the northern side of the island and descended to the sand. Visibility here was around 5 metres. We headed west along the reef, over the shelf near the outboard motor and along the reef to the slope. We headed down the slope and went over to the rocks with the pink sea tulips to try to find the juvenile pygmy pipehorse. We only looked for a short period of time but could not find it.

We continued down the slope and went around the corner in front of the caves. Kim found two Flabellina rubrolineata nudibranchs in a hydroid colony. It was difficult to photograph them because the current here was quite strong and the hydroid colony moved around a lot.

We turned and headed around the corner and back up the slope. We stopped again at the rocks with the sea tulips to look for the juvenile pygmy pipehorse. Kim could only stay for a short wile as she was running low on air. Just after she left I found the pipehorse low down on the rock. It has been in that same area for over a week now. Hopefully, we'll get to watch it grow.

I headed up the slope and followed the reef around to the exit on the northern side of the island.
