Dive with The Dive Academy. Chumphon Pinnacles is situated around 11 kilometres north west of Koh Tao and consists of one large main pinnacle with several more smaller ones surrounding it, rising from depths of around 35 to 15 meters.

We jumped in and our guide, Diver Dan, took as around over a number of the pinnacles. I was a bit disappointed with the small number of different species and I would learn on the other dives that this is what the Gulf of Thailand is like. We only saw two species of butterflyfish and one species of angelfish. There were no dwarf angelfish at all. There was one species of anemonefish and only a few wrasse species. There were some impressively large grouper, though, that were just hanging around.

The dive was quite short due to small tanks, poor fills and we were grouped with a relatively new diver.
