It was very calm at The Leap when Roger and I jumped in. Visibility at the surface was at least 5 metres. We descended and headed to the sand line at around 45° reaching the sand line half way between the Amphitheatre and Seahorse Rock. Visibility here was around 15m but it was only around 15deg;C. We headed left towards The Steps.

We didn't see anything notable until we reached Southern Cross Rock. There was a sub-adult crested horn shark resting on the rock and it moved down to the sand when we approached.

In Seadragon Alley we saw one weedy seadragon (PT2015062401) on its own and shortly after saw two together (PT2015051001, ). At the rock where we'd seen "Mikhail" we looked around but could not find him. We saw another weedy seadragon (PT2016073102) before the end of Seadragon Alley.

We continued on and just past Big Rock I spotted a male pygmy pipehorse (IL2016090201). I looked for more as we swam on to Diversity Rock but didn't find any. We swam past the basket star before reaching Diversity Rock.

I found the female (IL2016061401) and male (IL2016082101) pygmy pipehorses on Diversity Rock but not much else. It is sad not seeing the seahorses there and all the other critters I've seen in that spot over the last 12 months. Roger then spotted a male weedy seadragon (PT2015061401) with eggs. This was the first I had seen this season and restored my faith in Diversity Rock.

Roger left me here and I continued on alone. I checked out all the rocks with sponges hoping to find seahorses but found none. After swimming around for a bit I headed for the boulders and did my safety stop. I exited at The Steps where it was still calm.
