This was a mandatory dive (to keep my weekend run going) and for some reason I was not as keen as I usually am for a night dive at Camp Cove. I think it was probably because I had to wait an hour before getting ready to be closer to sunset. As it was I got in 30 minutes before sunset.

It was still quite light when I got in so I stuck to the shoreline and headed north to see what I could find around the rocks while I waited for it to get dark. When I got to the wall I discovered a large striped angler.

As it started to get dark I made my way back along the wall until I got to the pike of rocks and then I headed out onto the sand. I meandered around for a while and ended up near the reef.

I tried to stay on the clean sand hoping to find striped pyjama squid and blue-lined octopus but kept ending up in the seagrass beds. This ended up to be a good thing as I found a few dumpling squid and two blue-lined octopus in the seagrasses. The best area seemed to be just down from the beach where the clean sand hits the seagrass beds. I also found a couple of peacock soles and 2 rock flathead.

When I'd had enough, I got out at the beach. It was an enjoyable dive and I'm glad I did it.
