I wasn't sure if the conditions would have imporved after the weekend's rough weather but Malcolm was keen for a dive so we met at The Steps. The water looked quite milky but we decided to give it a go.

We walked down the stairs at The Steps and along the rocks to the protected area two thirds of the way to The Monument. It looked a little choppy but the entry was quite easy. The visibility did not look good at all. We were quite some way out by the time we descended and ended up on the sand. Visibility was only around one metre and so it was going to be an unpleasant dive.

Using my compass, I navigated us back to the rocks and we followed them towards The Monument. It was very difficult to recognise where we were. Every now and then I thought I knew where we were but the rocks we encountered subsequently were not familiar.

We swam along for 20 minutes or so before giving up and moving to shallow water before surfacing near the point. We got out on the rocks.
