Today I was taking Trevor Howard, a friend of Malcolm Nobbs, diving to show him what Kurnell has to offer. He'd not dived here before and I was hoping to show him some new animals.

We got in at The Steps and swam out on the surface. When we were ready we descended to the sand line. Visibility was up to 8 metres and there wasn't much surge. Water temperature was around 16°C. We turned right and headed towards Big Rock.

We swam along the sand line and I hoped to see some weedy seadragons. We stopped at the red widebody pipefish and I showed them to Trevor before continuing on.

As we swam towards Little Big Rock I pointed out the Nembrotha sp. nudibranch which has been there for the last few weeks. Just past Little Big Rock I found the orange painted angler which was missing yesterday. It was still on the same rock so I probably just didn't look closely enough. Today it was in the purple sponge. The salmon red-fingered angler was also on the same rock. It was facing in the opposite direction from yesterday but was still in the same spot.

We swam past Diversity Rock and then up to New Basket Star Rock. I pointed out the basket star on the green sponge before we headed on to Big Rock.

The white red-fingered anglerfish was still on the rock below hand rock. I pointed it out to Trevor before we went to Big Rock. On Big Rock I only found two pairs of pygmy pipehorses: the dark male and his pinkish partner; and my red male with his pink partner. While Trevor was photographing them I looked for the other pair but I could not find them. They'd both been there yesterday. After taking lots of photographs we headed back to the anglerfish before starting the swim back to The Steps.

We swam back along the sand line and again I was hoping to see some weedy seadragons but we didn't. We stopped at the anglerfishes. The orange painted angler had moved since we'd been there.

We headed for the boulders, ascended to 5 metres and started our safety stops as we headed to Split Rock. We finished our safety stops at Split Rock and then swam to the exit. The exit was easy.
